COMING SOON...

Vat '25
Vat '25 is my upcoming debut short film! I am so, so excited to share it once it's done, and I couldn't be more proud of all the talented people involved.

It was an absolute blast to shoot, and is currently in the post-production stage. I am so grateful for all the people who chose to volunteer their time to help create this film. My only hope is that what I deliver is awesome enough to make it all worth it!
Domestic Fowl
Domestic Fowl marks the first time I ever edited a feature film! It was so exciting getting the rough cut done, sitting there and thinking: "holy crap, this is 90 minutes long!"

So many months of hard work went into this film, and I can't even express the gratitude I have for being able to cut a whole movie.
'Tis the Treason
This was the thesis film I edited for my last year of college. If you know who I am, it's probably clear I would never edit a movie like this.

But that's what made it so fun! There were a lot of fun challenges that came with editing this film, and it felt glorious to finally finish it. I, like many others, am patiently waiting for its release!
Deluge
This is my main project for my experimental film class, and let me tell you, it's been great. This film is my attempt at creating an artificial cosmogony; in other words, a creation story for the digital age.

I had to learn a lot of new, strange softwares in order to make this film. It was made entirely on my computer, using generated digital visuals (but no AI!!!).

PAST WORKS

Reflections of a Past Life
This was a main project I co-directed and edited in my third year of college. It was my first time directing something of this scale, but luckily I had one of my best friends shouldering the effort with me.

I am so, so proud of how it turned out - despite it being not something I'd necessarily make today - the incredibly talented and dedicated crew made this thing worth it. Every single person who worked on this film deserves some love. Good times.
A Little Love
This was a main project I edited in late 2023, a documentary about what love means. I had a lot of fun with it as the director let me play around with the editing.

It's a bit of a poetic film, so we were very liberal in our approach to editing and we basically just played around until we made something cool!
Movies in my Home
This was a main project I edited in late 2023, a documentary about Reg Hartt. If you don't know who that is, watch the film! I had a lot of fun editing this as I can't stress enough how much I love stories about my great city of Toronto.

It was quite a challenge - there was no footage of the interviewees - so I had to really hone in on my choices and create something that was visually stimulating from start to finish.

JUST FOR FUN

Cou Foo
A little experiment I made when I was first discovering celluloid film. The film processing room at Sheridan is basically abandoned, kept alive by dedicated good samaritan John Kneller.

He let me take a couple strips of film, and I dissolved the images in bleach so I could make my own visuals with acrylic paint. It turned out amazingly! Lots of texture and colour, but I don't think it quite reaches the same heights of those Brakhage films I was obviously inspired by.
Mt. Nemo Quarry
This was an experiment in VHS feedback looping. I cast a live feed of my VHS camcorder to my computer monitor, then simply pointed the camera at the monitor.

The resulting film is one, unedited shot! I was stunned by how many interesting visuals I got just by holding a camera up to a screen.
Spin
Quite simply, this is a video of my washer doing its thing. One of my professors - another bastion of experimental film - Mike Baker, decided to add some home-made music to the thing.

What makes this movie so special is that, for some reason, my computer and phone really didn't like this video of my washer! The files kept getting corrupted, splitting apart and mutating the visuals. Very, very nice.
Mobybot 9000
This was a fun little project that took the better half of a day to make. It's a python script that takes a random quote from Moby-Dick (my favourite book), turns it into an image, and posts it on Instagram.

There are days where I forget it exists, and then I open my Instagram feed just to see profound literary wisdom on my screen. You can follow this account at @moby.bot9000
